Jacinthe Dion is a Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and co-holder of the UQAC-Cégep de Jonquière Research Chair on VIe and SAnté des Jeunes (VISAJ) since 2016. Her experience as a clinical psychologist, working with children and adolescents, has strongly influenced her desire to focus on the strengths and coping skills of youth and their families. Her research program aims to document risk and protective factors related to psychosocial adjustment, particularly among youth who have experienced abuse (e.g., sexual abuse, intimate partner violence) and among Indigenous people. For example, one of her recent projects, IPSA (Impact of Sport Participation), assesses whether sport participation (free of violence) can be a factor in resilience. In recent years, she has developed collaborative approaches involving various partners and communities in the research process, recognizing the unique strengths that each brings to the projects.
